MISSION STATEMENT
The Ratna Prison Initiative is dedicated to cultivating
the fundamental sanity and dignity in
individuals and therefore in society at large.
It looks for ways to heal, strengthen, and
empower individuals so that they can benefit
themselves and others. Through generosity, we
can foster environments that encourage humanity,
dignity, compassion, and wisdom.

THE RATNA PRINCIPLE
“Ratna”(pronounced raht-nah) is Sanskrit for
“jewel.” It connotes the idea of a
“wish-fulfilling gem” of wholesome, sane
awareness able to provide unceasingly for the
many needs of others. There is inherent,
boundless wealth, both in ourselves and in the
world, that can be tapped for the common
betterment. Ratna manifests as an appreciation
of the richness of every situation, even those
that seem confused or lacking, always seeing the
potential for creativity and dignity.
THE TREASURE VASE
Our logo, the treasure vase, symbolizes an
endless rain of good health and prosperity,
bringing the benefits of this world and
spiritual liberation. It can harmonize and
rejuvenate environmental energy, pacifying
internal and external conflict, while increasing
qualities of kindness and wisdom. However much
is removed from it, the treasure vase remains
perpetually full, an inexhaustible source of
material and spiritual abundance.
